Friday May 29th
Everyone had school except for all the seniors who met at 10am in the cafeteria for a graduation repetition. We were all dressed up (except for some guys wearing their cowboy hat and boots), they called our names and we had to form 2 lines. Then we walked through the hallways to the gym that was all decorated. The band started to play and we went to our seats. Everything needed to be perfect, sharp turns, no mistakes...The principal, Mr. Yoder explained how it will happen on Sunday during the real ceremony. He called our names and we faked receiving our diploma while the official photographer was taking pictures. After a group picture we left. I went to fort wayne with Bri, Nicole, Kylee and Maddie. We ate Olive Garden, and then went shopping. I brought my first bra at Victoria Secret! They were expensive (40$ each) but it's the first time it really fit me and I had a 35 gift card so...
I waited at Maddie's house for Kendall to pick me up and we went to Walmart to buy groceries for our party.

Thursday May 18th

Officially my very last day of school in America... I took my last finals in english, math and art, said goodbye to my teachers (I even made a card for Hollabaugh) emptied my locker (at the end of the year my locker looked awesome!
And I finally said goodybye to my american high school that I loved so much and that looked exactly like in the movies.
It hasn't hit me yet that I will never have classes in this building anymore. I think I will maybe realize at graduation on sunday.
I wanted to go to track practice (emma is the only one who still has it because she is going to state) to high jump for a last time, but the guys had regionals so they cancelled her practice and I wasn't able to do it.
Instead I decided to go run for 30 minutes. I ran around town, it was hot outside! (30 degrees). I've only been out of track for 1 week and I realize that I am already out of shape. I was dead after this run!
I then went on a bike ride with delaney, and I soon as we came back, Bri came to pick me up. We went to the baccalaureates service. It is a religious service at the school for the graduates, and Bri organized it. She said that usually there are only 7 people but this time we were 50! she did a good job! I had to play piano at the end. I also received a Bible. Before leaving the school we stopped a bit at the baseball game and I even got to do the score
!We got ice cream at bowling station and back home we helped Mindy to frost cookies.

Wednesday May 27th

I just realized writing that that I have less than 3 weeks left in Butler...That's crazy, where did the time go??? I feel like I just arrived yesterday! But let's not talk about leaving because it makes me cry.
I had my english and my ceramic final today. And also the one I feared the most: my chemistry 2 final. We took a national exam, one that people usually take to enter college... yes it was hard. But I think that I did OK, even if I didn't really read the last 5 questions because I didn't have time. I just guessed. After school I worked more on my scrapbook (I got 2 pages done!) and played with the kids. We also went to Mason's elementary school graduation. It was pretty cool. There were balloons with the name of the kids on the scene, a slideshow with pictures from kindergarden to 6th grade, students made little speeches. And at the end there were a buffet! 3 cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, punch, cookies....let's celebrate!

Tuesday May 26th
First day of my finals! I had spanish and history today. I think I did pretty good on both (I know I got a 96% on the spanish one). First day where I come home without having track! I played with the little kids, chased them around...I was studying for my chem final of tomorrow when Tate knocked at the door and with his big eyes asked me if I wanted to play with him. As I have absolutely no mental strengh with him, I said yes. We played hide and go seek, boxball and of course, we ended the day with our own way: coloring!
PS: Mason had a baseball game and he hit his first home run! Good jub Mas, I'm proud of you

Monday May 25th
I spent the morning doing my scrapbook. This thing takes forever! After a few hours, I only had 2 pages completed! We left at noon to go to the movies in Auburn and see Pitch Perfect 2. I loved the movie! I thought that it was even better than the first one!
I finished my day by coloring pages with Tate and Lucy.

Wilcox shaved it !

so remember when I said that my track coach told me that if I ran a certain time he would shave his beard? Well I told you that he did and that's the result !

Sunday May 24th

I attempted my first graduation party this afternoon, Maddy and Tereza's. I thought it would be outside, with people playing around, but it was at the elementary school, in a room. There was a table full of food, some cardboard with pictures of the graduates, and chairs to sit. That was it. I prepared myself to something so crazy that I was a bit disappointed. But I still had fun! I went there with the little Kitchens, and I ate with Tate. This little guy is just crazy! Then we went in the gym and played basketball for 1 hour. When I came back home, I had just a little time to rest, and we left for another graduation party, in Edgerton this time. It was for terry dad's nephew. I had never met him, and I didn't know anyone at the party. Mason either. So as soon as we ate, we ran outside and played football. We stayed an hour, and then drove back home. Soon after Kendall came to pick me up, and I left with her and Tess to Jesse's bonfire.
At the bonfire there were a lot of my friends, Jesse's family, Lindsey's parents, their cousins...we played volleyball, ultimate frisbee..And for the first time I rode a four-wheeler! I was behind Kendall and we drove into the fields. But the best part of the night was when a friend of mine proposed me to ride his motorcycle with him. It was a Kawazaki dirt bike. We went so fast! About 70mph (112 km/h).
It was awesome! I want to bring one of these home (not sure my dad would let me drive them though...)
We cooked marshmallows, played checkers... It was a super cool night!

I look...colorful!

Tereza and I with the Color Run Mascott

Saturday May 23rd
Today was fantastic. I woke up at 6am this morning, too excited to sleep one more second...Color Run day! At 7am, Kendall, Tessje and their mom came to pick me up. We drove to Fort Wayne, where we arrived on the place of the Color Run 1 hour too early. However, no time to get sleepy! We put our numbers on, our color run t-shirts, and let's go!
Getting ready!
They had a big scene with music, and people where dancing Zumba. Soon, there was a crowd of people dancing and jumping together!

We met there Abby, her boyfriend, and Tereza. There were a lot of people! I would say probably 2 thousands. At 9am, everyone was ready to start. We joined the crowd a the starting line, we all started the count down, “5, 4, 3, 2, 1....let's run!”

T (blue shorts), Tessje (Tall one), Me (sunglasses behind) and Kendall (sunglasses bending down) waving at the camera on the starting line!

Me and Tessje starting the race!
everyone started to run, some people sprinting, some jogging, a lot walking. The color run is a 5k race (3.1 mile) after a little bit, we passed through the first color station (it's not called the COLOR run for nothing!” you passed under an arch, and there were people on both sides with paint (it was kind of a mix of paint and colorful powder) throwing color on you.
We took about 40 minutes for 5 kilometers (yeah we didn't go really fast at all...)
How the color station works
This first station was the color pink, and when we got out of it, we had pink in our hair, our face and all over our clothes! In between the different stations, there was music, people were blowing bubbles in our face, we “high-fived” with some cops in the street... Everyone was wearing the same white t-shirt, some people had tutus, colorful socks, fake hair, costumes...it was great to see! Next station was the yellow one, then the orange one, and then the blue one. I had enough energy to run the entire race, but Kendall was tired and walked, and we didn't want to leave her behind, so we walked a part with her. It didn't really matter anyway, because the purpose of this race isn't really running, but more having fun.
This year was a special one, and the color run was actually called the “Shine tour”. For this reason, when we arrived at the finish line people also threw glitters at us! We passed under big arches, and received a medal and bags of paint/powder color.

Tessje, Me and Tereza finishing the race! Already some colors on!
Everyone met in from of the scene where the DJ was playing music. We screamed, we jumped, we danced..It was just amazing! And then we started another countdown, and “3, 2, 1...” everyone threw their bags of color in the air and it was one of the most crazy thing I've ever seen. It was a cloud of colors! We got covered in pink, green, blue, gold!

All this with music and laughs. Honestly it was an unforgettable moment. I saw that they were doing color runs in Europe too, and I will sign up for next year! Once we were done, we decided to go eat out, to Spyros, a breakfast place. The face of people when they saw us coming in, purple and blue girls, was hilarious! The food there is really good, but at the end of the lunch, all the tiredness from waking up early and running came back and we had to leave and go back home.
Soon after, I left to the cabin with my family, and we brought Tessje with us. We drove gokart (not technically drive, but we were sitting next to the driver), went with the boat on the pond, had a bonfire where we cooked hot dogs and smores...
It was just a perfect day.

Friday May 22nd
My first period of the day was spanish class, where we had a food day. Everyone brought something to put in a taco, chips, dip, sour cream, salsa, queso, meet...I brought my cake pops, there were cookies... So we basically ate tacos and chips for the entire period (it was 8am...)
The funniest moment was that the teacher brought a pinata that we had to break. I was the first one to hit. She put a piece of fabric on my eyes so I couldn't see, and span me around. I had no clue where this pinata was, so I kept swinging my baseball bat and hitting..nothing! I looked really stupid hitting the air, but it was fun. Then she helped the other ones a little bit, and we finally broke it and got lots of candy!
I felt so full! Oh and a guy of the class decided to try hot sauce, and even if he is huge and that he only ate like a dot of it, his mouth still burned for the entire hour!
After school, Kendall's mom, Vivian, picked me, Kendall and Tessje, and we all went to Fort Wayne because...tomorrow I am doing the color run! I am super excited! For those who don't know what the color run is, it is basically a 5 kilometers race where people throw paint at you! It looks amazing! So we had to pick up our stuffs and sign in. We also went shopping after that, and ate in a little Asian restaurant really good.
Once I got back, I went to the Kitchen's house and I did some coloring with Lucy and Tate. I tried to leave a few times, but each time, Tate looked at me with his big eyes and asked me “Can you stay for one more coloring page Estelly Belly?” you can't say no to that!

Thursday May 22nd
It was the day when the guys had their sectionals, and with 5 other girls, we decided to go help them and cheer for them. The meet was at East Noble, a huge school 30 minutes from Butler. We actually didn't do anything to help them at all! We just messed around, played with the coach's daughter, and looked at guys. We still cheered for our guys.
They did really good! PJ broke the school record at long jump, our 4x100m relay team won the sectionals, and I think that one of our runner won the mile too.
It lasted from 4pm to 9pm. After that, we got subs and pizzas in the bus. I sat all the way at the back and talked with everyone. The guys sitting next to me decided to make me listen to some American musics as “Red, White and Blue”, “Free Bird”, “Proud to be an American”.. all patriotic songs!
But it was a really nice moment! Seeing a last time a track meet was kind of sad, but it remembered me awesome memories.
I came back home at about 10pm, but I still had to finish the cake pops I started yesterday, so I quickly went to Mindy and she helped me putting the chocolate on it. They still don't look perfect but I'm making progress!

Wednesday May 21st
Even if I didn't have to, I decided to go to practice after school, because it is my last moments at the school and I wanna spend them out of my couch! I ran the warm up with the guys (I was the only girl) and I kept up with them! Then I decided to go high jump, but I only jumped twice before I stopped. I also started cake pops that I am supposed to do for our food day in spanish, on friday.
At 6.30pm, I went back to the school where we had the academic award ceremony. Teachers gave the student with the highest grade, a paper or a pin. I didn't think I had the best grade in any classes, but apparently I did in spanish 3! the teacher told me I had 102%, so better than the maximum! During this ceremony, they also announced which senior got a scholarship.

Tuesday May 19th
What a day! Sectionals for track! It was at Angola again, which I really liked, because Angola is the place where I always PR! And I've run there so many times that I know exactly on the track where I am supposed to start kicking in or where I can more “relax” (we never really relax in an 800m run!)
Anyway, we arrived there by 4.00pm, all 15 of us and it was freezing! It was in the 10-12 Celsius, but cloudy and with wind! First event was high jump. Knowing that it is probably the last time I was going to high jump, I expected to be very nervous, but instead, I just enjoyed it! I talked with other girls, with my friend form Garrett, I passed on the first trial 4'6'' and 4'8'', and I almost passed 4'10'', but I touched once again with either my butt or my elbow. 4'8'' is basically what I've jumped all this season, it is not an amazing height, but it really isn't bad either, so I am OK with it.
Right after that, I had to go run my 4x800. In my heat, there were only 2 team: us and Garrett. And yes, I was last leg. But today I was OK with it, which made me enjoy my race a lot more as I wasn't in a bad mood before starting! Another good point, the 3 other girls who ran with me did excellent, and I only was like 10 meters behind the Garrett girl when they gave me the baton. However, the Garrett girl was fast, and she finished like 70m in front of me. I ran a 2'41'' which is awesome! It is only 1 second behind my PR, but still 5 seconds faster than what I usually do. Moreover, the weather was bad, it was cold and windy, what didn't help me running faster.
After that, every short race had trials (there were so many people!) so we didn't start the actual meet until 7pm. There were 2 heats for the 800m: a fast one, and a slow one. I was in the slow one, but my coach told me that I had the best time between everyone in my heat, so I was confident. I ran it with 9 other girls I think. I knew it was going to be very probably my last 800m, and the last race I would run for track, so I decided to give everything I had. I started way faster, and I sprinted the entire first lap. At the beginning of the second lap I was in 3rd position I think. I soon passed the 2 girls in front of me, and instead of keeping my pace in the second lap, I accelerated. I finished 1st of my heat, a good 10m in front of the 2nd one. My time was a 2'41''. I know it is still not my PR; but once again, it is a very good time and I was totally happy with it. Another reason to be happy was that at the end of each of my races, I always felt like I could have gone a little bit faster. At the end of this one, my throat was burning, and I knew that I gave everything I had. Oh and everyone told me that I looked fantastic when I was running! They said I looked super fast!
I was just disappointed because as I didn't break 2'40'' it meant that my coach wouldn't shave his bears, however he told me that I ran perfectly, and that if I was in the fast heat, I would have broken my time. Indeed, when you have no one in front of you to catch up with, you automatically run a little bit slower. He said that he was very proud of me and that for all I've done, he would still shave it!
We ordered pizzas to celebrate our season, and we ate all together in the bus.
It's very hard to believe that my track season is over. Tonight was a lot of “last times”: last time I rode a bus with my team, last time I used our locker rooms, last time I high jumped, last time I ran a 800m, last time I ran track, and overall, last time I was an official athlete of Eastside High School.
When I came here, I wasn't even sure that I wanted to play a sport, and I am now, 10 months later with 3 sports behind me. Every sport was a gift, and it's playing with my teammates that I got my best memories. I am proud that I was able to be a blazer this year.

Monday May 18th
Only important event of the day, as we have sectionals tomorrow, and that we are probably not going to pass it to go to regionals, it was our last practice. It was a bit sad, because even if track was for sure the hardest sport I played/ran, I still had a lot of fun. I ran my warm-up as fast as I could, and our short work-out (only 10 minutes) too. I decided to walk home because I don't walk in Butler a lot, and I want to see more of my tiny city before I leave!

Sunday May 17th
With Tereza, Maddy and their mom, we went to Fort Wayne to do some graduation shopping. I already had everything, but Maddy and Tereza needed a dress and shoes. I still tried on a lot of clothes (I can't go shopping without trying things on!) and I found some really pretty skirts and dresses, but I had to use all my self control not to buy them: I already don't have space in my suitcase!
After eating at a Chinese fast food, we went to a craft store, where I bought what I needed to start a scrapbook. I collected so many souvenirs form this year, and I have tons of pictures, so I thought that it would be a good ideas to put them down in a book. Just to be sure I will never forget this year!
My family came to pick me up after lunch, and we all went to Lakewood Christian School were Gavin and Delaney had their singing recital. It was kind of the recital I have with Jaques-Dalcroze, family and friends were there, and kids either played piano or sang. Delaney and Gavin did great.
We then had 2 hours to kill before our meeting with CHI, so we decided to go chill downtown in Auburn. There was kind of a fair, with organisaions and stores having little stands in the street.
We also stopped at Walmart to do some shopping, and I found my dream there... 900g of sour patch kids for 4.48$! No questions why some americans have obesity issues! I would be big too if candy was that cheap in Switzerland!
At 6pm, we went to Forum Pizza where we had the meeting. All the exchange students from North Indiana were there with their host families. Everyone talked about their year, what they liked and what they didn't like (not a lot!). The host parents also talked about their experience, and it was nice to hear what my host family thought about me! I don't know if I will see all theses exchange students before I leave, but they are such wonderful people, and I am lucky and glad that I got to spend a year with them. It was definitively a sad, and emotional night. I also played games with Mason while everyone was eating. Pac Man, Virtual bowling...
I don't wanna think too much about it, but as the end of my year becomes closer, days like today are heartwarming.

Saturday May 16th
After chilling all morning long, I went to the school to watch Gavin and Tessje's musical. The show was really funny, thanks to the dialogues, but also because none of the actors really knew their lines, what made it awkward for them and hilarious for us! After the show, we looked at the art exposition that was in the hall. All my paintings were there!
Tereza's grand ma came to pick us up, and I went to Tereza's house, where Abby took us. We drove to Cebolla's, a mexican restaurant. There, we met her older brother (I don't remember his name...) and we ate all 4 of us. At the movie theater, we saw the movie “Hot Pursuit”. The plot really isn't that great, but the actresses were hilarious and I laughed so much! We also stopped at Bowls, the ice cream place, before saying goodbye to her brother.
On our way to Dekalb high school, we stopped to pick up Abby's boyfriend, Jackie.
We went to the high school to “run” for Relay For Life, an association for cancer. No one was actually running, so we just walked around the track for 1 hour. It was nice and warm, I was walking and talking with my friends...And for a good cause!
All along the track, there were candles with the names of either people who died from cancer, or people who have cancer now.
Back at Tereza's house, we watched a few track videos, to improve our running skills, and we went to bed at 3am.

Friday May 15th
Finally the day we all waited for! NECC (North East Corner Conference) finals! We arrived at Angola at 4.30pm, and 30 minutes later, we started with the field events (everything that is not running). At high jump, there were 13 girls. We started at 4'4''. I passed on the first trial. Then 4'6'', first trial too. Came 4'8'', my “average” height. And surprisingly, I passed it on the first trial too! We were only 8 left after that, but I didn't make it farther. I thought too much, and I didn't jump naturally. However, Emma passed it. She actually did really good...because she won! She cleared 5'4''! This is VERY high! 1m63! Emma is 2015 NECC high jump champion! I am so proud of her! I finished 8th, which I'm happy with, as the 8 first people score and get a ribbon!
After an hour, I had to run my 800m. I was in the first heat (I think it was for the slowest people...)
I started way faster, and even if I wasn't in the first ones during the first lap, for the second one, while people slowed down, I kept a good speed, and I passed a few people. 300M before the end, I was 4th. I passed 2 girls to come in 2nd position, and at the end of the race, I was only 2 meters behind the 1st one!
My goal for this race was to run 1 second faster that my PR (2minutes 45 seconds)...well I reached my goal, because I PR by 5 SECONDS!!! I don't know if you realize, but 5 seconds on a 2 minutes race is A LOT! I ran a 2'40''25''' ...Oh and my coach said he would shave his beard if I was under 2'40''.. I was 0.25 seconds close! But we still have sectionals next tuesday, so I will make him shave it! Overall, our girls track team finished 7th out of 13 teams. For a small school like us, it is really good.
Back in the bus at 9pm, we received 10 pizzas from the team moms as a recompense! Last incident of the day, before leaving the school, I took one of the cake filled with cream we had, and I splashed it on Emma's face! Well I should have run faster, because she splashed one right back on mine!
I was really proud of the job I accomplished today, and also proud of everyone, because they worked really hard! Go Blazers!

mercredi 13 mai 2015

Tuesday May 12th
After school, we had the first trials for NECC championships. We went to Angola, and there, the first race was the 4x800m. Once again, I was last leg :(
When they gave me the baton, the girl was 50m in front of me. We were last ones, but we PR as a team by 10 seconds! I ran a 2'46'', 1 second after my record! I was kind of mad at myself, because 1 second is like 2 steps! If I did 2 steps more, I could have PR! Then I just had to wait for the rest of the meet, because I am only doing high jump and 800m on friday. While I was waiting, I was sitting on the grass by our camp, with many other Eastside athletes. We put the music very loud, and we all started to dance. They guys went crazy! We had a crowd around us, with people recording us! Then we started to jump in each other's arms... While all the others schools were freezing and grumpy, Eastside knew how to have fun, as always!

lundi 11 mai 2015

Sunday May 10th
After skyping my family, I did some gardening with the rest of the family here, and then we played kickball. (A mix between baseball and balle brulée). It started to rain really hard, but we didn't care and we kept playing!
Saturday May 9th
We had the Goshen Relay meet. All the girls who were picked to participate (2 best ones in every event) met at 6.45 school. I am the best one for the 800 and second best for high jump so I had to go... After 2 hours of bus, we arrived at Goshen High School, a really big school (1'100 people). It was only a girl meet, but there were a lot of different schools (14?) and at least 300 girls!
This special meet was only relays. We started with high jump. Pooh, Emma and I all jumped, and at the end they added the heights. I only jumped 4'6'', Pooh only did 4'0'', however Emma jumped 5'2''! thanks to her, we got 2nd! For the distance relay, the distances were 1200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m. I was the 800m. When the girl gave me the stick, we were last and the other girls were at least 100m in front. It is hard to be motivated when you know that you won't be able to catch up with anyone! As a result, I ran 5 seconds slower than my Personal Record. 1 hour later, we ran the 4x800m. I was last leg again (hate it). And once again, the other girls in my group are so slow that when it was my turn to run, I was 200m after everyone, so no motivation. I didn't drink a lot during this warm day, and I just ran a race so I didn't feel really good, and I didn't have any energy. 5 minutes later, I was back on the track for the intermediate relay 5 minutes! After 2 800m, I was dead, and when I started to run, I almost couldn't stand on my feet. It was so frustrating! I knew that usually I could have gone so much faster, but there, I just couldn't! It was so frustrating.
At the end I did a pretty amazing sprint, and I passed 3 girls!

jeudi 7 mai 2015

Thursday May 7th
It was a HOT day. After school, at practice, we had to run at 87 Fahrenheit (30 Celsius). When you run 45 minutes, that's hard!

mercredi 6 mai 2015

Tuesday May 4th
Everyone called me “Prom Queen” each time they saw me at school! It was kind of embarrassing, but nice to hear! After school we had our last dual meet, which means, us against one team. The only other meet we are going to have are either relays or championships. We ran against Garrett, Eastside's biggest rival, however our coaches didn't make us run our habitual events, they put us in things we never ran before, as a “workout” (I still don't understand why they did that). Anyway, it didn't change to much for me, except that I ran last leg for the 4x800 (I hate being last leg, but the girl who was last leg before complained so much that they put me in her spot..)
When the 3rd girl gave me the baton, my opponent was already 100m in front of me. How am I supposed to catch up 100m in a 800m race?? It was really hard mentally, because I knew we weren't going to win, so I just wanted to jog the end, but I pushed myself to finish and I ran a 2'48'', only 3 seconds slower than my PR.
The rain was pouring, we were all wet, and at the end of the national anthem, we all saw lighting. It was too dangerous to stay on this open field with lighting, so we all ran to get our bags, and we went into the locker rooms.
It was actually an awkward situation, all of us, with the Garrett girls (school we really dislike) in a tiny room. I expected it to be hard situation, but we actually all talked and it was nice. We spent 45 minutes in there, waiting for the thunderstorms to go away, and while everyone expected the meet to be cancelled, they made us go back in the rain and finish it! I didn't do bad at high jump, I kept my average height (4'8'') and I was really close to pass 4'10'' (my record), my butt passed the bar, but I knocked it down with my elbow :(
At the 800m, I finished 2nd with a time of 2'49''. It isn't an amazing time, but the other girls didn't do amazing either so it was fine with me. I also had to run the 4x400m, the last race of the meet. I was freezing, and I didn't get my time, but I don't think that I did too bad.
